Full Job Description:
Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Provide mechanical engineering design and mechanical engineering technical support for equipment/process improvement projects, or new capital equipment projects for new or existing manufacturing processes. This would also include new equipment or tools for process development for new products, and root cause understanding for production issues
• Provide mechanical design support for all CET Type Equipment, such as Dies, Die hardware, Air Bearings, and Dryer Trays. This includes the engineering modeling required to design this type equipment.
• Potential to eventually lead small design and build projects, such as stand-alone pieces of equipment or devices.
• Use the scientific method to drive for fundamental understanding through engineering best practices, equipment design and engineering modeling.
• Work in a cross-functional environment: link between development, quality, commercial, and manufacturing to deliver the best possible solution
• Use of rigorous tools to deliver results including problem analysis, potential problem analysis, risk assessment, DMAIC methodology and innovation
• Use engineering principles and data to solve problems, including production issues
• Support individual or multiple plants within CET
• Ensure best practices are communicated, evaluated, and implemented
• Integrate problem solutions into production and validate results. Provide second level production support.
• Translate work, solutions, and directions into presentations to leadership that can be understood and are actionable
Projects Involved with:
• New capital equipment projects
• Process improvement projects for existing products
• Process development for new products or processes
• Root cause understanding for production issues
Role within Group:
• Technical project leadership in the Green End across all CET facilities
• Mechanical engineering support of the Green End across all CET facilities
• Subject matter expert in the Green End
• Technical liaison between Development, Engineering, and Manufacturing
• Promote and develop technical growth and responsibility among department technicians
Travel Requirements: 25-75%, some international travel is possible due to project needs
Required Education and Experience:
• Minimum: Associates of Science in Mechanical Engineering Design or Drafting, or related field
• 2-5 years’ experience in engineering support
Required Skills:
• Sound mechanical engineering & design background in any of the following:
• Knowledge of 2D & 3D CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Solid works
• Knowledge and understanding of ANSI and Geometric Tolerancing standards
• Knowledge of engineering modeling software, such as Cosmos
• Use of scientific method to solve challenging problems
• Ability to use data to drive to solutions
Desired Skills:
• Ability to lead smaller design projects of varying complexity
• Leadership and interface of external vendors and technical resources for equipment specification, equipment development, and solutions implementation.
• Formal problem-solving leadership skills
• Experience with Six Sigma DMAIC principles
• Teamwork in a multicultural environment
• Experience in the stages of innovation, transferring technology and processes from development to production
