Full Job Description:
Scope of Position:
Works with global team members to take on difficult process, technical and engineering related issues.
Supports or leads continuous improvement activities, new product or process introductions, and cost reduction projects.
Responsible for driving fundamental process understanding and lowest cost producer objectives.
Supports the development and execution of plans to evaluate new technology or improvements in existing technology resulting in a superior product in terms of quality and/or cost.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Provide engineering-level support to global manufacturing operations and actively engage with personnel at all facilities
Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts
Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues
Provide trend analysis of key metrics and implement response plans
Lead and/or provide support for projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new products/processes
Actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects
Identify chronic issues and recommend corrective actions for process/equipment using sound engineering principles
Provide leadership or support for startup of new equipment lines or processes
Develop and update engineering and operations documentation
Provide training for operations workforce regarding equipment or operations changes
Travel Requirements: ~15% domestic travel, primarily within NC. Some international travel may be required
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40+ hours per week. Typically M-F but may require weekends depending on travel schedules or job assignment
Required Education and Experience:
BS or MS in Mechanical, Materials or Ceramic, Chemical or Electrical Engineering. MS preferred.
3+ years of engineering work experience in a manufacturing/production environment

Ability to learn new technology and processes quickly
Creative/innovative problem solving
Strong technical fundamentals with process engineering skills
Strong data analysis and statistical skills; individual should be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Access (queries, databases)
Experience with experimental design
Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a dynamic manufacturing environment
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to work effectively on all levels of an organization
Desired Skills:
Six Sigma Greenbelt certification
Knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting
Project management experience on global projects
Experience with statistical packages such as Minitab
Experience with polymer or acrylate coatings
Experience with color estimation approaches and measurement techniques such as colorimeters, spectrophotometers
Soft Skills:
Ability to work within a team and provide training to others
Works well in a collaborative, team-based environment in a global setting
Works well with different functional areas (development, engineering, manufacturing, trades, etc)
Thinks creatively and can work easily in a multi-cultural, global environment
