Scope of Position:
Position involves, but is not limited to: transferring new products to manufacturing, manufacturing improvement projects, cost reduction, capacity increases, variability reduction and quality improvement. Technician role requires interaction with both development and plant personnel to achieve objectives, data collection/mining, preliminary data analysis and experimental support on manufacturing lines. This technician role will focus on dry blend, wet tower and forming areas.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Shift coverage during experiments in plant
Ware tracking
Using Excel and JMP for preliminary data analysis
Development and execution of experiments designed to drive at root cause or understanding of process issues.
Mining plant systems for data and organizing data
Develop a knowledge base for dry blend, wet tower and extrusion technologies by working with area resources.
Role Within Group: You will be working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
Travel Requirements: You can expect travel to be ~25% of the time but can lead up to 50% depending on project specific work. Some international travel may be involved depending on your project requirements.
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Your typical work schedule will be 8-5pm M-F although you should expect to have flexibility for off shift and weekend coverage is expected to support project assignments including overtime.
Minimum Required Education and Experience:
You should have an AS in a technical area and 0+ years of experience working with/in engineering or manufacturing areas:
Technically curious, self-motivated and be able to work with minimal supervision
Strong organization skills
Able to manage multiple priorities at once.
Strong logistical skills
Ability to develop, monitor and execute designed experiments
Some equipment / process aptitude with ability to solve problems and characterize key process drivers.
Able to work with data and communicate results from data.
Able to give direction to others (leadership skills)
Desired skills:
Prior ceramic substrate/filter manufacturing experience
Manufacturing plant experience -You should be able to interact with operators and key receivers.
Knowledge of the current ceramic substrate/filter manufacturing process would be a plus
Previous dry blend and wet tower experiences or experiences in material beneficiation or milling.
