Role Purpose:
• Provide EHS expertise, and practical support for Safety Excellence in all OFC manufacturing plants in North America – to ensure we have a rigorous safety program that protects the safety of our employees, contractors, and visitors at all times.
• To maintain Safety standards and governance processes aligned with the Corporation, and OFC training framework.
• To develop technical solutions to improve Safe manufacturing capability within North America.
• This role requires working within a complex manufacturing structure at a plant and division (OFC) level.
• The work is multi-dimensional in the areas of regional support and corporate regulations and compliance. It involves influencing sustainable change in cultural and technical aspects of manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Report to the OFC Global Safety Capability Manager all aspects of Safety performance and improvements.
• Support and maintain comprehensive assessment of manufacturing capability for Safety in OFC plants – determine current performance and capability. Work should include all aspects of manufacturing operator tools, process equipment, facility operations, maintenance, and introduction of new technology.
• Support and maintain the Safety Strategy that drives and delivers an improvement roadmap.
• Contribute to the development of consistent Safety Standard for all manufacturing locations that that aligns with Corning Incorporated that incorporates local codes and regulations, OFC Strategy for all people – Corning employees, contractors, and visitors. This will include supporting the management and deployment of evolving changes in Safety Standard requirements
• Contribute toward the driving of the Safety Governance process to ensure Safety Standards, North America Program initiatives and metrics are being implemented, maintained, and sustained.
Travel Requirements: 15% travel – domestic
Required Education:
• Bachelor of Industrial, Occupation or Safety Engineer Degree strongly preferred. Other Engineering Degrees will be considered with relevant safety manufacturing experience.
Required Years and Area of Experience:
• 5 -7 years demonstrated manufacturing experiences in developing and deploying Safety Strategy and associated tactical plans to deliver targeted results. Desired is experience within a Safety Management Systems approach.
• Demonstrated manufacturing experience on a regional or multiple plant environment and cultures.
• Knowledge and experience in Safety Regulatory and Legal requirements and industry direction.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; both organization and presentation skills.
