Role Purpose:
You will lead and develop/execute the Sourcing Strategies within our GSM function. This includes policies, tactics and objectives for business specific commodities that align our strategies. This involves the overall planning, implementation, and optimization of all activities and support required for the buying and delivery of products and services, from material acquisition through delivery. Primary areas include procurement and contracting, supply management, inventory management, logistics operations, supplier diversity, transportation, and distribution.

Key Responsibilities:
Are you a leader in the development and communication of global supply intelligence and a trusted business partner who loves developing and/or assisting with plans and objectives? Do you have a strong knowledge in economic and currency trends that affect GSM, the business, and the global commodity sourced?
• In this role, you will work with our Businesses, GSSM, and Buyers on assigned global commodities to prepare and solicit competitive bids, quotations, and proposals. You'll achieve this through developing and reviewing specifications, statements of work, performance terms and accept/reject criteria.
• You are responsible for Corning's Supplier Relationship Management process for the assigned commodities and will be conducting negotiations with potential and/or current major suppliers to obtain maximum value. Engaging supplier involvement as early as necessary (process design, commodity overviews, IP opportunities, technical advantages, JDA, etc.).
• Maintaining effective supplier relationships by auditing, visiting, and evaluating. Reviewing areas such as capabilities and capacities. Identifying new or alternative sources as necessary. Developing Risk Mitigation plans where necessary.
• Communicating negotiation strategy to BSM and other key internal partners in order to gain buyoff.
• Developing, maintaining, and executing Shared Objectives and Service Level Agreements.
• You will represent GSM within the plant/business by engaging our Corporate functions, Shared Services as well as Corporate GSM as necessary to assure global Buying Policy and Global Customs compliance.
• Assuring Contribution Metrics are updated and linked with site/business cost reduction portfolio Leverages site spend with business and corporate spend.
• Crafting and maintaining contractual documents (Supply Agreements, Pricing Agreements, Non-disclosure Agreements, Certificates of Insurance, etc.).
• Locating and selecting potential sources of materials or services (site specific excluding global commodities).
• Interacting with Strategic Sourcing to understand the supply base and market dynamics, support execution of commodity and supplier sourcing strategy.
• Collaborating with planning or production control to effectively control material scheduling and planning.
• Working with Finance on standard setting and cost reduction budgeting, price forecasting, etc.
• You will be the primary contact between Commodity and site for implementing change and responsible for driving site implementation and advocacy of centralized RTP process.
• Acting as active leader/member of cross-functional teams focused on process improvement, cost reduction and supply chain issue resolution, new product development.
• Evaluating competitive offerings to determine the best overall offering for a product or service.
• Protecting Intellectual Property (IP). Conducting IP audits.
• Ensuring compliance with internal and external auditing requirements related especially to GSM or other certification (if applicable).

Experiences/Education Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree with experience in manufacturing – operations, planning, engineering, supply management, or procurement
• Plant or Corporate Buyer experience and familiarity with GSM processes/systems.
