CTO / Co- Founder
About us:
We’re an early stage startup that is looking to add more talent to help develop our exciting mobile product. The CTO / Co-Founder of Omni Self-Checkout will establish growth and help lead a transaction-based business and social monetization startup in Long Beach, CA. This role will advance the business plan and roadmap, through its execution.
An Ideal Candidate Would Have
• Experienced in server side language (PHP or Ruby or Python), traditional SQL databases (MYSQL, Oracle, MSSQL), advanced JavaScipt (jQuery and/or Angular JS), HTML5 (with Bootstrap), Cloud application hosting (Amazon or AppFog or Rackspace).
• Strong understandings of design patterns, algorithms, software development fundamentals, and database architecture (SQL and NOSQL)
• Been involved in using or building an API
• A wide array of experience with testing, cloud hosting, mobile application development, user experience design, business requirements, and agile methodologies
• Experienced as a part of the leadership team within a startup environment
• Owned products and features, and built them from conception to delivery
• Ability to balance ideal technical solutions with business realities
• Worked on side projects to stay constantly up to date with new technical skills and technologies

Responsibilities
• Establish a vision; align team members to the vision – Clearly convey a vision that drives the team to change how people shop in stores that will enable customers to live a better lifestyle. Co-lead the overall business in partnership with the founder
• Ability to make a huge impact on a growing company and grow an engineering team.
• Engage investors, brand partners and company executives in the vision and business – Design and deliver engaging and compelling presentations to external audiences that cause them to take positive action.
• Engage and learn from current and potential customers – Get their feedback, incorporate it into successive product generations, and create something customers will love.
• Provide technical leadership – Translate product and consumer concepts into a functional reality that delivers an exceptional customer experience.
• Execute effectively on the plan – Ensure that the components of a project are managed in an integrated way to fully realize objectives; ensure that decisions made throughout the planning and execution are in alignment with the original intent; identify, track, analyze and report on the business; guide and coach team members to advance the delivery of initiatives, balancing the inevitable tensions and conflicts that may emerge; identify issues requiring higher-level decisions or escalation and facilitate that process through resolution.
• Demonstrate business and financial acumen – Understand the financial implications of decisions and be a champion of growth while considering the cost implications; apply business and financial acumen to partnership, deal and product structures; be a quick study and learner.

Basic Qualifications:

o Bachelor’s degree in computer science, solution engineering or a related field
o Five years of experience in startup businesses and/or startup functions in companies
o Travel 20-40%

o Track record of converting strong technical, social networking and mobile app product experience into successful products or businesses
o Relentless work ethic and experience with scaling from a startup to a substantial business
• Strong strategic thinking skills and ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and deliverables
• o Deep curiosity to learn and understand; innovative thinking and intellectual agility; ability to drive breakthrough “what if?” thinking
• o Relentless determination to follow a concept from idea to execution and results; ability to recognize when a path or direction is not viable and be able to pivot
• o Strong collaboration and influencing skills; excellent communication skills (written and verbal); comfortable and effective when representing the company at executive levels; organizational savvy
• o Cultural adaptability; global mindset; able to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment
