Full Job Description:

Asterism Healthcare is a B2B supplier of boutique, research-validated functional ingredients, phytonutrients and nutraceuticals. The company mission is to connect food, beverage, healthcare and beauty products manufacturers—and the consumers they serve—to an extraordinary array of natural Japanese ingredients with active compounds isolated from plant- and animal-based concentrates rich in nutrition.

Over the past year, Asterism Healthcare has built an ISO class 7 nutraceuticals production facility within The Accelerator @ Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (Middletown, NY) and entered into Strategic Alliance or other arrangement with pharmaceutical companies, functional foods producers, physician-affiliates and others. We have everything in place and are setting up a B2B2C startup for precision nutrition, a new field where nutrition becomes therapy. This “Newco” offers nutrient-based, non-drug therapeutics for dermal support, obesity concerns and immune function. Newco serves physicians, the persons under their care, and other end-users who are concerned with a specific condition, preventive care, or achieving personal performance goals. It’s vision is to sit at the intersection of technology, personalized medicine, and plant-based, non-drug therapeutics within two-to-five years.

Together, these companies and their Strategic Alliance partners seek a Project Coordinator experienced in agile methods to manage all aspects of key projects. Bilingual English and Japanese language is required, Chinese, Spanish or Arabic would be a plus.

The successful candidate will coordinate with persons across Japan, Europe, The Americas and other geographies to ensure that all aspects of each project are integrated and that deliverables fall within the applicable scope. In general, s/he/xe will set deadlines, assign responsibilities and monitor and summarize progress of projects in the form of status reports prepared for upper management.

This incumbent may sometimes have limited information to rely on, and sometimes work with individuals that have little experience. Thus, it’s important that s/he/xe exhibit sound judgment and the willingness to proactively identify information resources, then ask the right questions of the right persons in order to plan and accomplish goals.

The candidate will need to perform variety of tasks, including routine administrative work, such as communicating with regulatory and health authorities as part of document collection. However, the position is not an administrative one, per se. The candidate will need the leadership skills and temperament to direct the work of diverse persons in a variety of roles who are set up as distributed teams. Accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments are critical. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

A bachelor’s degree is desirable but not mandatory, although the candidate should be—or can rapidly become—familiar with the concepts, practices and procedures of the functional ingredients and nutraceuticals industry. If s/he/xe has a life science background or geek-out over nutrition and health, so much the better.

Responsibilities:

* Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
* Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time and within scope
* Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
* Ensure resource availability and allocation
* Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
* Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
* Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
* Report and escalate to management as needed
* Establish, maintain and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships
* Perform risk management to minimize project risks
* Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
* Meet with stakeholders and clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project
* Delegate project tasks within the organization based on job descriptions, roles, individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels
* Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
* Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members
* Use and continually develop leadership skills
* Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency
* Perform other related duties as assigned
* Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs
