A miniature snap-action switch, also trademarked and frequently known as a micro switch, is an electric switch that is actuated by very little physical force, through the use of a tipping-point mechanism, sometimes called an "over-center" mechanism.

It is important for you to realize that electrical snap switches are necessary for controlling the direction of current. They are usually made up of two of more contact points. The contacts will have to be mounted upon an insulated assembly. They are positioned in such a way that the multiple contacts keep moving into and out of position to enable the current to move in different direction. Thanks to a suitable operation mechanism it is easy to move the contacts into and out of position. Their assembly is usually insulated to prevent the contacts from ever shorting themselves.
