Pure titanium wire can divided into 4 grades due to it’s chemical content,they are Gr 1,Gr 2,Gr 3 and Gr 4.
Grade 1 titanium is the first of four commercial pure titanium grades. It is the softest and most malleable of these grades. It has maximum formability, excellent corrosion resistance and high impact toughness.
With all these qualities, grade 1 is the preferred material for any application that requires easy molding and can usually be used as titanium plate and pipe. Grade 2 titanium is known as the "main force" of commercial pure titanium industry because of its wide use and wide availability. It has many of the same qualities as grade 1 titanium, but higher strength. Both are equally corrosion resistant.
This grade has good weldability, strength, ductility and formability. This makes grade 2 titanium rods and sheets the first choice in many applications:Architecture,Generating capacity,Medical industry,Hydrocarbon processing,Marine industry,Exhaust pipe cover,Fuselage skin,Seawater desalination,Chemical processing,Chlorate manufacturing.
Grade 3 titanium parts
This grade is the least used of commercial pure titanium grades, but it does not reduce its value. Level 3 is stronger than levels 1 and 2, with similar ductility but slightly poor formability - but its mechanical properties are higher than those of its predecessor.
Class 3 is used for applications requiring medium strength and major corrosion resistance. These include:Aerospace structure,Chemical processing,Medical industry.
Grade 4 is the strongest of the four grades of commercial pure titanium. It is also famous for its excellent corrosion resistance, good formability and weldability.
Although commonly used in the following industrial applications, grade 4 steel has recently found a niche market as a medical grade titanium metal. It is required in applications requiring high strength:Fuselage assembly,Cryogenic vessel,Heat exchanger,CPI equipment,Condenser tube,Surgical hardware,Pickling basket,Marine industry.
