Are you trying to save the Sacramento San Joaquin delta? You can protect the project by joining the Sierra Club California as a member, or working as a volunteer. The Bay delta tunnel project is very important and The Department of Water Resources has received public feedback from Sierra Club California about the draught environmental impact report (EIR) for the planned Delta Conveyance Project. The planned Delta Conveyance project comprises constructing additional Sacramento River water intake facilities in the north Delta. Just one tunnel would reroute freshwater flows before they are able to reach the Delta.
The water would be delivered to major farming enterprises and water wholesalers to the Delta south. As much as 6,000 cubic feet of water per second might be diverted down the tunnel. The project will not be finished until at least 2042 and is expected to cost around $16 40 billion in ratepayer funding.
