Help create and test a small interactive telephone voice system for your language!


There are two parts to the project:


Phase one: now until the end of March. We’ll begin right away by preparing some basic documents showing how days, dates, and times are represented in each language. It will take perhaps 8-16 hours to prepare this small “grammar”. This will be reviewed and delivered to the client by the end of March. Work will then pause during April while the engineers implement the grammar.


Phase two: roughly 3 weeks beginning May 18. We’ll test the grammar to verify that the system audio is correct and that the system itself is working as it should. During the test, you’ll call into the system from your own phone, simulating the user experience. This could take up to 4 hours a day during the test period, depending on how successful the implementation is. It’s very hard to predict the exact time needed, so we’ll need some flexibility there. Ideally, we’d like the person who prepares the grammar to agree to do the testing in May, but that isn’t a strict requirement.


Drafting: 8-16 hours, to begin right away. Needs to be done early in the week of March 27.
Grammar review: 4-5 hours, starting early in the week of March 27th and concluding March 31.


System testing: this will be several hours a day, roughly May 18 – June 12.


We need only two people per language—one for drafting & system testing, and one for the short review of the grammar—so if you’re interested please apply right away.
