What is the cornea?
The cornea (GM) or in English called the Cornea is a component of the sheath of the eyeball. In which the outermost layer occupies the anterior 1/5 of the outer layer of the eyeball is the cornea (corresponding to the position of the iris of the eye).
The normal cornea is transparent and has an anterior curvature like a watch glass. The GM front is convex and the back is concave, the front is smaller than the back.
GM diameter varies from birth to adulthood. Infants have a GM diameter of 10 mm and adults 11.5 mm. Therefore, GM will have the right size for each age group.
The characteristics of the cornea
The cornea is composed of 5 layers from the outside to the inside, including:
Epithelial layer;
Bowman's membrane;
Parenchymal layer;
Descemet membrane;
Endothelial layer.
What is the function of the cornea?
The cornea will have two main functions, namely:
GM will help cover and protect the eyes from germs, dust and harmful substances.
The GM acts as a lens to help control and focus the light of the eye. The GM contributes between 65 and 75% of the total focusing power of the eye.
The symptoms of keratitis are usually:
Eye pain and redness;
Increased sensitivity to light (discomfort when looking at light);
Lots of tears;
Eye discharge;
Blurred vision, decreased vision;
Sensation of a foreign object in the eye;

Here are some easy steps you can take to help prevent GM diseases:
Add foods that help provide vitamin A.
If your workplace has a lot of foreign objects such as metal dust, wood dust, etc., that easily get into your eyes, you should use appropriate protective glasses at work.
Limit the use of contact lenses. If used, always wash your hands thoroughly before wearing and use quality contact lenses
If there is a foreign object in the eye, you should go to medical facilities for proper treatment.
