Full Description

At Ludlam Elementary, part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools—the fourth largest district in the U.S.—this full-time Pre-K paraprofessional position plays a pivotal role in nurturing early childhood education for 3- and 4-year-olds in a culturally rich Miami neighborhood. Daily tasks center on facilitating small-group activities like phonics games, hands-on math explorations with manipulatives, and sensory play to boost fine motor skills. Assist in preparing engaging materials such as alphabet puzzles and thematic art projects tied to local Miami themes like Biscayne Bay ecosystems. Monitor student progress during circle time and transitions, implement behavior strategies for diverse learners including English language acquirers, and maintain a safe, inclusive classroom by sanitizing toys and arranging learning centers. Collaborate with teachers on individualized plans for students needing extra support, contribute to parent communications via daily reports, and participate in briefings on curriculum updates. Candidates need a high school diploma or GED, plus completion of the ParaPro Assessment or 60 college credits. Prior experience in childcare or education settings, ideally 1-2 years with preschoolers, is essential. Familiarity with tools like Teaching Strategies GOLD for observations and basic Microsoft Office for activity logs sets candidates apart. Florida School Paraprofessional certification preferred. Essential skills include child development knowledge, bilingual abilities in Spanish-English, patience under pressure, and creativity in activity design. Strong observational skills help track milestones accurately. Miami-Dade Public Schools fosters a collaborative, student-centered culture in welcoming school environments. Competitive compensation and benefits include comprehensive health coverage, retirement plans, and generous paid time off.
