Job Description
Bullhorn seeks a skilled Database Administrator to safeguard and optimize our core data infrastructure powering staffing industry solutions. This pivotal role ensures seamless performance, security, and scalability for business-critical systems. Drive innovation in data management while collaborating with engineering teams in a dynamic US-based environment.
Full Description
At Bullhorn, the Database Administrator plays a central role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our cloud-hosted databases that fuel staffing and recruiting platforms used by thousands of enterprises. As data volumes surge with business growth, this position demands proactive oversight to prevent disruptions and enable real-time analytics for clients across industries.
The successful candidate will monitor database performance using advanced tools like SQL Server Profiler and Oracle Enterprise Manager, tuning queries to slash response times by up to 40%. Daily tasks include implementing high-availability clusters with Always On configurations, executing routine backups via automated scripts, and recovering from failures within SLA windows. Collaboration with development teams involves schema optimizations for new features, such as AI-driven candidate matching, and capacity planning to forecast storage needs amid peak hiring seasons. Troubleshooting complex issues, like deadlock scenarios in high-transaction environments, requires deep dives into execution plans and index strategies. Participation in on-call rotations ensures 24/7 coverage for mission-critical systems.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, coupled with at least five years of hands-on experience administering enterprise databases in fast-paced settings. Proficiency in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL is essential, alongside expertise in performance tuning, backup/recovery protocols, and security hardening against SQL injection threats. Oracle or NoSQL experience, plus certifications like Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, will set applicants apart. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL Database is required for our hybrid infrastructure.
Technical prowess in scripting with PowerShell and Python complements strong analytical thinking and meticulous attention to detail. Effective communication skills enable clear articulation of technical risks to non-technical stakeholders, while a collaborative mindset fosters seamless integration with cross-functional teams. Adaptability to evolving business demands and a commitment to data integrity distinguish top performers in this role.
Bullhorn cultivates a collaborative culture emphasizing innovation and work-life balance, with teams distributed across the US supporting global operations. Professional development thrives through internal training, conferences, and mentorship programs, positioning employees for advancement in a growing SaaS leader.
We provide a competitive compensation package including comprehensive health insurance, generous PTO, 401(k) matching, and flexible work arrangements tailored to high-performing contributors.
