At Safeway, the Sr. Manager - Corporate Facilities plays a pivotal role in upholding the physical backbone of our extensive grocery operations across California and beyond. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position ensures that corporate headquarters and regional support facilities in Pleasanton operate at peak efficiency, directly impacting employee productivity and business continuity for a company serving millions weekly.
Daily responsibilities center on strategic oversight of facility maintenance programs, including HVAC optimization, electrical system upgrades, and structural integrity assessments for our 10-acre Pleasanton campus. The manager will negotiate contracts with specialized vendors for roofing repairs and energy-efficient lighting retrofits, targeting 15% annual cost reductions. Key projects include leading the rollout of seismic retrofitting compliant with California Building Code and implementing IoT sensors for real-time space utilization tracking across conference rooms and warehouses. Collaboration with cross-functional teams ensures minimal disruptions during peak seasons like holiday inventory builds.
Qualified candidates hold a bachelor's degree in facilities management, civil engineering, or a related field, coupled with 10+ years in corporate real estate or facilities leadership, ideally in retail or distribution sectors.
