Full Description

At Wilson Elementary School, part of the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education, this Grade 1 Teacher position for the second semester fills a critical gap in our dynamic elementary program. Located in Honolulu, the role supports our commitment to fostering academic growth and cultural awareness among keiki in a diverse community. The successful candidate will design and deliver engaging phonics-based reading sessions, lead hands-on math explorations using manipulatives aligned with Common Core standards, and facilitate integrated social studies units highlighting Hawaiian history and local ecosystems. Daily tasks include small-group interventions for foundational skills, monitoring progress via digital portfolios on Google Classroom, and collaborating with specialists on individualized education plans. Afternoon duties encompass recess supervision and parent communications through school messenger apps, ensuring holistic child development during this pivotal semester. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in elementary education or related field, with Hawaii teaching licensure (or eligibility) and at least two years' experience in primary grades. Proficiency in classroom management software like ClassDojo and familiarity with RTI frameworks are essential. Core competencies include differentiated instruction, culturally responsive pedagogy, and strong data analysis for student outcomes. Adaptability and empathy thrive here. Our supportive environment promotes aloha spirit amid Honolulu's sunny campus, with collaborative grade-level teams. Market-rate compensation includes comprehensive health coverage, retirement plans, and generous PTO.
