Job Description
Solomon Page seeks a Senior Database Administrator in Dallas, TX, to manage, optimize, and secure enterprise databases. Drive data integrity, performance, and availability for business-critical operations in a dynamic environment.
Full Description
Join Solomon Page as a Senior Database Administrator and play a pivotal role in safeguarding and enhancing our data infrastructure. This position is crucial for ensuring seamless data operations that power business decisions, support scalability, and maintain competitive edge in a fast-paced industry. Your expertise will directly impact operational efficiency, enabling the company to deliver innovative solutions to clients across sectors.
As a Senior Database Administrator, your day-to-day involves proactive monitoring and optimization of database systems to ensure peak performance and uptime. You will design, implement, and maintain robust database architectures, including SQL Server, Oracle, and NoSQL platforms like MongoDB, handling terabytes of critical data. Weekly tasks include performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning to meet growing demands, while monthly responsibilities encompass database backups, disaster recovery testing, and security audits. Collaborate closely with development teams to support application deployments, data migration projects, and integration with cloud services such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL. Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex issues, mentor junior DBAs, and contribute to strategic initiatives like database consolidation, delivering measurable improvements in query response times and system reliability. Expect to manage high-availability clusters, automate routine tasks with scripting in PowerShell or Python, and ensure compliance with data governance standards.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with at least 8-10 years of progressive experience in database administration. Proficiency is required in relational databases like SQL Server and Oracle, including advanced features such as Always On Availability Groups and RAC. Familiarity with cloud databases, ETL tools like SSIS, and monitoring solutions such as SolarWinds or Prometheus is essential. Certifications including Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Certified Professional, or similar are highly preferred. Strong experience in high-volume transactional environments and knowledge of data security best practices, including encryption and access controls, are non-negotiable.
Technical prowess in database tuning, backup strategies, and performance analytics sets top performers apart, complemented by scripting expertise in SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL, and Python. Soft skills like exceptional problem-solving under pressure, clear communication for cross-functional collaboration, and leadership in mentoring teams are vital. You should thrive in agile environments, with a keen eye for detail and adaptability to emerging technologies like AI-driven database management.
