Job Description
Northwest Specialty Hospital seeks an experienced Anesthesia Director for River City Anesthesia in Post Falls, ID. Lead anesthesia services in a dynamic surgical environment, overseeing teams and ensuring top patient care in full-time or part-time capacity.
Full Description
Join Northwest Specialty Hospital as the Anesthesia Director for River City Anesthesia, a pivotal leadership role that drives excellence in perioperative care. This position offers the chance to shape anesthesia services at a state-of-the-art facility, directly impacting patient outcomes and operational efficiency in a high-volume surgical setting. Your expertise will elevate our commitment to safe, innovative anesthesia delivery, supporting our mission to provide superior healthcare in the Pacific Northwest.
As Anesthesia Director, you will oversee all anesthesia operations, directing a team of certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) and anesthesia technicians. Daily tasks include conducting pre-anesthetic assessments, developing and implementing anesthesia care plans, and administering anesthesia for diverse procedures ranging from orthopedics to general surgery. You will supervise intraoperative monitoring, manage emergence and recovery phases, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards. Weekly, lead quality assurance meetings, review case metrics like turnaround times and complication rates, and collaborate with surgeons, OR staff, and hospital administration to optimize scheduling and resource allocation. Monthly responsibilities encompass performance evaluations of your team, budgeting for anesthesia supplies, and participating in morbidity and mortality conferences to refine protocols. Expect to handle on-call duties, mentor junior providers, and drive initiatives to reduce anesthesia-related risks, targeting metrics such as 99% on-time starts and under 1% adverse events.
Candidates must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution, with board certification in Anesthesiology from the American Board of Anesthesiology. Completion of an ACGME-accredited anesthesia residency and at least 5-7 years of post-residency experience in a surgical hospital setting are required, including prior leadership in anesthesia departments. Active, unrestricted medical license in Idaho, DEA registration, and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications are mandatory. Proficiency in electronic medical records systems like Epic, advanced airway management techniques, regional anesthesia blocks, and hemodynamic monitoring is essential. Familiarity with ambulatory surgery center regulations and pain management protocols is highly valued.
Success demands technical mastery in ultrasound-guided procedures, volatile anesthetics, and total intravenous anesthesia, paired with soft skills like decisive leadership during crises, clear communication with multidisciplinary teams, and empathy in patient interactions. Strong analytical abilities for data-driven improvements, adaptability to fast-paced OR demands, and a commitment to evidence-based practice set top performers apart. Industry knowledge of perioperative best practices and regulatory compliance ensures seamless integration into our high standards.
