Job Description
ARIVA Group seeks a skilled Estimator for residential construction projects in Edinburg, TX. Prepare accurate cost estimates, analyze blueprints, and collaborate with teams to ensure project success and profitability.
Full Description
Join ARIVA Group as an Estimator in residential construction, a pivotal role that drives project success by delivering precise cost projections and supporting strategic bidding decisions. Your expertise will directly influence our ability to secure competitive contracts and maintain high profitability in the dynamic Edinburg, TX market, contributing to our growth as a leading construction firm.
In this position, you will analyze detailed blueprints and specifications to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for residential projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overheads. Daily tasks involve reviewing project plans using tools like Bluebeam or PlanSwift, quantifying materials through takeoffs, and calculating labor hours based on historical data and productivity rates. Weekly, you will collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to refine estimates and incorporate feedback, ensuring alignment with client requirements. Monthly responsibilities include updating cost databases with current market prices for lumber, concrete, and fixtures, generating bid proposals with detailed breakdowns, and tracking estimate accuracy against actual project costs to achieve a target variance under 5%. You will also participate in pre-bid meetings, perform risk assessments for potential change orders, and support value engineering efforts to optimize budgets without compromising quality. Leadership elements include mentoring junior staff on estimation best practices and presenting estimates to senior management for approval.
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, along with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in residential construction estimating. Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Procore, Sage Estimating, or Autodesk Takeoff is essential, complemented by strong knowledge of building codes, material pricing trends, and subcontractor evaluation. A Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) credential or similar certification is highly preferred, ensuring you can navigate complex residential projects from single-family homes to multi-unit developments with precision and compliance.
Beyond technical prowess, success demands exceptional analytical skills to dissect complex plans and forecast costs accurately, paired with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for modeling and data analysis. Strong communication abilities are crucial for articulating estimates to diverse stakeholders, while keen attention to detail and problem-solving competencies enable proactive identification of cost-saving opportunities. Organizational skills will help manage multiple bids simultaneously, and a results-oriented mindset ensures estimates support our competitive edge in the residential sector.
