Job Description
Bose Professional seeks an Electronic Design Engineer Co-op in Hopkinton, MA, to assist in designing innovative audio hardware. Gain hands-on experience in circuit design, prototyping, and testing for professional sound systems.
Full Description
Join Bose Professional as an Electronic Design Engineer Co-op and play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge audio technologies that redefine professional sound experiences worldwide. This co-op position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects, supporting the company's mission to deliver superior audio solutions for live events, installations, and studios, while gaining invaluable industry experience in a collaborative engineering environment.
As a co-op, you will dive into daily tasks such as designing analog and digital circuits for audio processing systems, using tools like Altium Designer and LTSpice for schematic capture and simulation. Weekly, you'll prototype PCB layouts, perform signal integrity analysis, and troubleshoot hardware issues in the lab, collaborating closely with senior engineers, firmware developers, and product managers to meet project milestones. Monthly deliverables include test reports on power efficiency metrics, noise reduction performance, and compliance with EMC standards, ensuring designs advance to production. You'll participate in design reviews, iterate on prototypes based on feedback, and support integration of DSP algorithms into hardware platforms, fostering cross-functional teamwork with mechanical and software teams to deliver robust, reliable products.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field, with at least two years of academic coursework in circuit theory and electromagnetics. Prior co-op or internship experience in hardware design is preferred, along with proficiency in PCB design software such as Altium or KiCad, simulation tools like SPICE or MATLAB, and oscilloscopes for debugging. Familiarity with audio engineering principles, including amplifiers, filters, and ADCs/DACs, is essential, as is hands-on experience with soldering, multimeters, and logic analyzers. Knowledge of standards like RoHS and FCC compliance rounds out the technical foundation needed to thrive.
Technical expertise in embedded systems, C programming for microcontrollers, and RF basics will set you apart, complemented by strong analytical skills for optimizing designs under constraints like size, power, and cost. Soft skills such as clear communication for presenting findings in team meetings, adaptability in a fast-paced R&D setting, and a passion for audio innovation are crucial. Problem-solving prowess and meticulous attention to detail ensure high-quality outputs in collaborative projects.
Bose Professional, a leader in professional audio solutions, is renowned for pioneering noise-cancelling technology and immersive sound systems used in concerts, theaters, and corporate spaces. Our Hopkinton, MA team fosters a culture of creativity, inclusivity, and technical excellence, with flat hierarchies that encourage co-ops to voice ideas and learn from industry veterans in a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced labs.
