Job Description
Johnson Contracting & Design, LLC seeks an experienced Construction Foreman to lead on-site teams in Kansas City, MO. Oversee projects from planning to completion, ensuring safety, quality, and timelines are met while driving operational excellence.
Full Description
Join Johnson Contracting & Design, LLC as a Construction Foreman and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality construction projects that shape the Kansas City skyline. This leadership position is essential for driving project success, ensuring teams operate efficiently, and upholding our commitment to safety and client satisfaction, directly impacting our reputation and growth in the competitive construction industry.
As a Construction Foreman, your day-to-day involves supervising on-site crews, coordinating daily tasks, and monitoring progress against schedules and budgets. You will conduct morning safety briefings, inspect work quality, and resolve issues on the spot to keep projects on track. Weekly, you'll review blueprints, order materials, and update project logs, collaborating closely with project managers, subcontractors, and architects to align on deliverables. Monthly responsibilities include preparing progress reports, conducting performance reviews for team members, and ensuring compliance with building codes and safety regulations. Leading a team of 10-20 workers, you'll assign tasks based on skills, train new hires, and foster a productive environment, all while tracking key metrics like labor hours, material usage, and milestone achievements to optimize efficiency and minimize delays.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, with at least 5-7 years of hands-on experience in construction supervision, preferably in commercial or residential projects. Proven expertise in reading blueprints, operating heavy machinery, and using construction management software like Procore or PlanGrid is required. A valid driver's license, OSHA 30-hour certification, and knowledge of local Kansas City building codes are essential. Strong background in concrete work, framing, and site preparation, coupled with experience managing budgets up to $500K, will set you apart in this field-based role.
Success demands technical proficiency in tools like levels, lasers, and power equipment, alongside blueprint interpretation and cost estimation skills. Soft skills such as exceptional leadership to motivate diverse teams, clear communication for stakeholder updates, and problem-solving to handle unexpected challenges are crucial. Your ability to prioritize safety, adapt to weather delays, and maintain high standards in fast-paced environments will thrive here, complemented by physical stamina for fieldwork and a detail-oriented mindset.
