Job Description
Veterans Evaluation Services seeks a General Medicine Provider in New Mexico to deliver high-quality medical evaluations for veterans. Join our mission to support those who served by providing comprehensive assessments and reports.
Full Description
Veterans Evaluation Services is looking for a dedicated General Medicine Provider to join our team in New Mexico. This vital role involves conducting thorough medical evaluations for veterans, ensuring accurate assessments that directly influence their healthcare benefits and support services. Your expertise will make a profound impact on the lives of those who have served our nation, contributing to our company's mission of delivering compassionate, reliable evaluation services nationwide.
As a General Medicine Provider, you will perform detailed physical examinations and medical history reviews for veterans seeking disability evaluations. Daily tasks include assessing patients' conditions, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as blood work, imaging, and functional assessments, and documenting findings in comprehensive reports. Weekly, you will collaborate with our scheduling team to manage caseloads efficiently, typically handling 4-6 evaluations per day, and review cases with internal medical directors for quality assurance. Monthly responsibilities encompass participating in peer review sessions, staying current with VA guidelines through continuing education, and contributing to performance metrics like report turnaround time under 5 business days and accuracy rates above 98%. You will work closely with nurses, administrative staff, and external stakeholders such as the Department of Veterans Affairs to ensure seamless service delivery. Leadership opportunities arise in mentoring junior providers and leading training on best practices for veteran-centered care. Expect a dynamic routine balancing patient interactions, report writing using secure electronic health record systems, and quality improvement initiatives.
Candidates must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution, along with an active, unrestricted medical license in New Mexico. A minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in general medicine, internal medicine, or family practice is required, with preference for those experienced in disability evaluations or occupational health. Board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine or equivalent is highly desired. Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems, diagnostic interpretation, and VA-specific protocols is essential. Additional certifications such as BLS or ACLS are beneficial, and familiarity with workers' compensation or forensic medicine is a plus. Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail are non-negotiable.
Success in this role demands exceptional technical skills in general diagnostics, patient examination techniques, and medical documentation software like Epic or Cerner. Equally important are soft skills such as empathetic communication to build trust with veterans, often dealing with complex psychosocial histories; analytical thinking for nuanced assessments; and time management to meet strict deadlines. Industry competencies include deep knowledge of musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and neurological evaluations tailored to VA disability criteria, ensuring objective, defensible reports.
Veterans Evaluation Services, a leader in veteran healthcare assessments, is committed to honoring military service through precise, compassionate evaluations. Our mission-driven culture fosters teamwork in a supportive environment with small, collaborative teams of providers and support staff. We pride ourselves on work-life balance, professional respect, and a unique focus on veteran advocacy, setting us apart in the healthcare evaluation sector.
We offer competitive compensation, though salary details are not specified at this time, commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, generous PTO starting at 3 weeks, and paid holidays. Additional perks encompass malpractice insurance coverage, CME allowance up to $3,000 annually, flexible scheduling options, and potential for hybrid work arrangements depending on location needs.
Advance your career with clear paths to senior provider roles, regional medical director positions, or specialized evaluation tracks. We invest in your growth through ongoing training, conferences, and mentorship programs. To apply, submit your resume and credentials via our careers portal; selected candidates will proceed to interviews within two weeks.
