Job Description
Contineum Therapeutics seeks a Sr. Scientist in In Vivo Biology to lead preclinical studies in San Diego, CA. Drive innovative drug discovery through hands-on animal model expertise and cross-functional collaboration.
Full Description
Join Contineum Therapeutics as a Senior Scientist in In Vivo Biology and play a pivotal role in advancing our pipeline of novel therapeutics for unmet medical needs. This position is central to our mission of developing transformative treatments in neurology and immunology, where your expertise will directly influence project success and accelerate candidates toward clinical trials. With a focus on cutting-edge in vivo research, you'll contribute to high-impact discoveries that position our company as a leader in biotech innovation.
In this role, you'll design, execute, and analyze in vivo studies using rodent models to evaluate therapeutic efficacy, pharmacokinetics, and safety profiles of small molecules and biologics. Daily tasks include dosing animals via various routes, monitoring health and behavior, collecting tissues for downstream analysis, and maintaining detailed IACUC-compliant records. Weekly, you'll collaborate with medicinal chemists and pharmacologists to refine study protocols and troubleshoot experimental challenges. Monthly deliverables encompass comprehensive study reports, data presentations to cross-functional teams, and contributions to IND-enabling packages. You'll lead junior scientists in surgical procedures like stereotaxic injections, oversee vivarium operations, and partner with external CROs to scale studies, ensuring all activities align with project timelines and regulatory standards.
Candidates must hold a PhD in Biology, Pharmacology, Neuroscience, or a related field, with at least 8-10 years of hands-on in vivo experience in biotech or pharma. Proven proficiency in rodent handling, surgical techniques, behavioral assays, and imaging modalities such as MRI or bioluminescence is essential. Familiarity with ADME studies, biomarker development, and GLP compliance is required, alongside expertise in software like GraphPad Prism and ELN systems for data management. Industry knowledge in CNS or autoimmune disorders, plus a strong publication record, will set you apart.
Beyond technical prowess, success demands exceptional analytical skills to interpret complex datasets, strong communication for presenting findings to leadership, and leadership to mentor teams. You should thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, demonstrating adaptability, problem-solving, and a commitment to scientific rigor and animal welfare principles.
