Job Overview The VP of Defense at Unissant will spearhead the company's defense sector strategy, fostering key relationships with Department of Defense (DoD) agencies and military branches. Based in Washington, DC, this executive position plays a pivotal role in expanding Unissant's footprint in government-military contracts, leveraging innovative technology solutions to address national security challenges. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute a comprehensive defense business strategy aligned with Unissant's growth objectives. Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with DoD stakeholders, prime contractors, and federal agencies to secure new opportunities. Oversee the full lifecycle of defense proposals, from capture management to contract execution, ensuring compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FAR). Lead a cross-functional team in delivering mission-critical IT, cybersecurity, and engineering solutions tailored to military needs. Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging technologies to position Unissant as a leader in defense innovation. Collaborate with C-suite executives on budgeting, resource allocation, and performance metrics for the defense portfolio. Represent Unissant at industry conferences, government forums, and partner events to enhance brand visibility. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, National Security, or a related field; Master's or MBA strongly preferred. Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in defense or government contracting, with at least 7 years in senior leadership roles within DoD-focused organizations. Proven track record of winning and managing multi-million-dollar defense contracts. Active Secret or Top Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred. In-depth knowledge of federal contracting processes, including GWACs, IDIQs, and SBIR/STTR programs. Skills Strategic vision and business acumen with expertise in defense market dynamics. Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities in high-stakes environments. Strong communication and negotiation skills for engaging senior government officials. Proficiency in program management tools, financial modeling, and risk assessment. Technical familiarity with cybersecurity, cloud computing, AI/ML applications in defense, and systems engineering. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated environment with keen attention to detail and ethical standards.
