Full Description
PermaTherm, a leader in advanced insulation manufacturing, is seeking a dynamic Vice President of Manufacturing to oversee all production activities at our state-of-the-art facility in Monticello, Georgia. This pivotal leadership role directly influences operational excellence, product quality, and the company's ability to meet growing market demands, ensuring we deliver superior thermal solutions while maintaining sustainability and cost-effectiveness across our operations.
As VP of Manufacturing, you will spearhead the strategic direction of production, optimizing workflows and implementing cutting-edge technologies to boost throughput and reduce waste. Daily responsibilities include monitoring production metrics, conducting floor walkthroughs to identify bottlenecks, and collaborating with engineering teams on process improvements. Weekly, you will lead cross-functional meetings with supply chain, quality assurance, and R&D departments to align on project timelines and deliverables, such as scaling up new insulation product lines. Monthly, you will analyze key performance indicators like overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), on-time delivery rates, and scrap reduction targets, presenting reports to executive leadership. You will manage a team of plant managers and supervisors, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement, while driving initiatives like lean manufacturing projects and capital equipment investments. Expect to oversee budgeting for manufacturing expenses, negotiate with key suppliers, and ensure compliance with industry regulations, all while mentoring staff to achieve departmental goals.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, with a Master's or MBA preferred, and at least 15 years of progressive experience in manufacturing leadership, including 7+ years in a senior executive role within the building materials or industrial sector. Expertise in ERP systems like SAP or Oracle, proficiency with automation technologies such as PLC programming and robotics, and deep knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean methodologies are essential. Certifications such as Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) will set you apart. Proven track record in high-volume production environments, particularly with extruded polystyrene or foam insulation processes, is required, along with experience managing multi-shift operations and budgets exceeding $50 million.
Success in this role demands strong technical acumen in manufacturing software tools like AutoCAD for facility layouts and MES systems for real-time monitoring, paired with exceptional leadership and communication skills to inspire teams and negotiate with stakeholders. You must excel in strategic problem-solving, data-driven decision-making, and fostering innovation, while demonstrating adaptability in a fast-paced industrial setting. Industry-specific competencies include expertise in supply chain optimization, quality control standards like ISO 9001, and sustainable manufacturing practices to minimize environmental impact.
