Full Description

We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Elementary Resource Room Teacher specializing in Special Education to join our supportive educational community in Branch, LA. This vital role involves empowering students with learning differences to achieve their full potential, fostering inclusive classrooms, and contributing to the mission of the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) by promoting excellence in education. Your work will directly impact young learners, helping them build confidence and academic skills in a nurturing environment. In this position, you will design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs, conducting assessments to track progress and adjust strategies weekly. Daily tasks include delivering specialized instruction in resource rooms for reading, math, and social skills, collaborating with general education teachers, parents, and specialists to ensure seamless support. You will manage small group sessions, incorporate assistive technologies, and prepare monthly progress reports with key metrics like goal attainment rates. Weekly team meetings will involve co-planning lessons and addressing behavioral interventions, while quarterly reviews with administrators focus on compliance and student outcomes. Leading parent-teacher conferences and facilitating inclusion activities are key, alongside mentoring paraprofessionals to enhance classroom dynamics. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field, with Michigan teaching certification in Special Education (K-12) or eligibility for endorsement. A minimum of two years' experience working with elementary students in resource room settings is required, including expertise in IEP development and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS). Proficiency in assessment tools like Brigance or Woodcock-Johnson, and familiarity with state standards and federal regulations such as IDEA, are essential. Knowledge of evidence-based interventions for learning disabilities, including dyslexia and ADHD, is critical. Essential skills include strong classroom management to create engaging, structured environments, exceptional communication for building rapport with students, families, and colleagues. You should demonstrate patience, empathy, and creativity in adapting lessons, along with data analysis abilities to monitor student growth. Proficiency in educational software like Google Classroom, Seesaw, and IEP management systems is necessary, complemented by leadership in fostering inclusive practices and cultural sensitivity in diverse settings. The Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) champions leadership and innovation in education across the state, supporting principals and educators through professional development and advocacy. Our collaborative team in Branch, LA, thrives in a close-knit, student-centered environment that values work-life balance, professional growth, and community involvement. What sets us apart is our commitment to equity and continuous improvement, creating a welcoming culture where educators feel empowered to innovate.
