In this critical role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of database systems to support business operations and ensure data security and availability. Key Responsibilities You will oversee the daily administration of database environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching of database software such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. Perform performance tuning, monitor system health, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and optimize query efficiency. Implement backup and recovery strategies, manage data replication, and ensure compliance with security protocols and regulatory standards like GDPR or HIPAA. Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and stakeholders to design scalable database architectures, migrate data, and support application deployments. Conduct regular security audits, manage user access controls, and document all processes for knowledge sharing and audit purposes. Required Qualifications A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required, along with at least 5 years of hands-on experience as a DBA in enterprise environments. Proven expertise with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) and familiarity with NoSQL solutions like MongoDB is essential. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL is highly desirable. Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or similar are strongly preferred. Skills Technical proficiency in SQL scripting, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and database modeling tools like ER/Studio or Visio. Strong knowledge of backup tools (e.g., RMAN, Veeam), monitoring solutions (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, SolarWinds), and automation scripting with PowerShell or Python. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to handle high-pressure situations. Superior communication skills for interacting with technical and non-technical teams, along with a commitment to continuous learning in emerging database technologies.
