At Mercedes-Benz of Austin, the Vehicle Acquisition Specialist plays a pivotal role in fueling our dealership's growth by expertly sourcing and acquiring top-tier pre-owned vehicles. As a Vehicle Acquisition Specialist, your daily responsibilities will revolve around identifying and securing exceptional used vehicles that align with our brand standards. You'll spend your days scouting auctions, negotiating with private sellers, and evaluating trade-ins through meticulous vehicle inspections, focusing on mileage, condition, service history, and market value. Weekly, you'll analyze market trends using industry tools to forecast demand for specific models like C-Class or GLE SUVs, collaborating closely with the sales and service teams to prioritize acquisitions. Monthly deliverables include detailed acquisition reports tracking cost per vehicle, turnaround time to sale, and profitability metrics, ensuring we hit inventory targets of 50+ units. You'll partner with finance experts for appraisal accuracy and work with marketing to highlight new arrivals, occasionally leading small teams during major auction events to maximize volume and quality.
To succeed in this role, candidates need a high school diploma or equivalent, with a bachelor's degree in business, automotive management, or a related field strongly preferred. At least 3-5 years of experience in vehicle acquisition, auto sales, or dealership operations is essential, particularly with luxury brands. Proficiency in appraisal software like Manheim or vAuto, CRM systems, and Microsoft Excel for data analysis is required. Deep knowledge of the Austin-area automotive market, Mercedes-Benz specifications, and certifications such as ASE or state auction licenses will set you apart. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are mandatory.
Beyond technical expertise, you'll bring strong negotiation skills to secure favorable deals, exceptional communication for building seller relationships, and analytical prowess to assess vehicle value accurately.
