Job Overview: Ascension Health, a leading non-profit Catholic healthcare system, is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Orthopedics for our state-of-the-art facility in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. In this full-time position, you will deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care to individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries, injuries, and chronic conditions, contributing to improved mobility and quality of life in a supportive team environment. Key Responsibilities: Assess and monitor orthopedic patients' conditions, administering medications, wound care, and pain management protocols. Collaborate with surgeons, physical therapists, and physicians to develop and implement individualized care plans, including mobility training and rehabilitation exercises. Educate patients and families on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and preventive measures to reduce readmissions. Document patient progress accurately in electronic health records, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. Respond to emergencies, perform procedures such as IV insertions and catheterizations, and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance orthopedic unit outcomes. Required Qualifications: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois without restrictions. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN preferred) from an accredited program. Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in orthopedics, med-surg, or a related acute care setting. Current BLS certification; ACLS and orthopedic-specific certifications (e.g., ONC) highly preferred. Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and meet health and immunization requirements. Skills: Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities with expertise in orthopedic conditions like fractures, joint replacements, and spinal injuries. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with diverse patients and families. Proficiency in EHR systems such as Epic, along with technical skills in patient monitoring equipment and mobility aids.
