Job Overview Overland Park Regional Medical Center is currently seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department on a temporary basis. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and life-threatening conditions in the emergency department. Perform rapid patient assessments, triage cases according to severity, and initiate appropriate interventions based on established protocols. Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and assist with emergency procedures including intubations, wound care, and resuscitation efforts. Collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans. Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic health records while maintaining strict confidentiality standards. Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions. Respond swiftly to changing patient conditions and prioritize care delivery in a high-volume environment. Required Qualifications Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Kansas with current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required. Minimum of one year emergency department or critical care nursing experience preferred. Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure are essential. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication abilities and a commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. Skills Proficiency in emergency nursing procedures, trauma care, and advanced cardiac life support. Ability to operate medical equipment including defibrillators, ventilators, and monitoring devices. Strong critical thinking, time management, and organizational skills. Knowledge of electronic health record systems and regulatory compliance requirements. Capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment while maintaining attention to detail.
