Job Overview
Jackson Park Hospital is currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Staff Nurse to join our Medical/Surgical unit. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment where you will provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with a variety of medical conditions and surgical needs. Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Medical/Surgical unit, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans. Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and manage wound care and post-operative recovery. Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate treatment plans. Educate patients and families on health conditions, discharge instructions, and preventive care measures. Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. Respond promptly to changes in patient conditions and initiate appropriate interventions.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a current and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred, though an Associate Degree in Nursing with relevant experience will be considered. A minimum of one year of acute care nursing experience in a medical-surgical setting is required. Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
Skills
Strong clinical assessment skills, proficiency with electronic health record systems, excellent time management abilities, effective verbal and written communication, and the capacity to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams are essential for success in this role.
