As a Surgery Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in preparing patients for surgery, assisting during operative procedures, and providing essential post-operative care. Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive preoperative assessments, verifying surgical consents and patient identification, preparing operating rooms with necessary equipment and supplies, maintaining strict sterile field protocols, monitoring patient vital signs during procedures, administering medications as directed, documenting all nursing interventions accurately, assisting with patient positioning and transfer, coordinating with recovery room staff for seamless patient handoffs, and participating in surgical time-out procedures to ensure patient safety. Required qualifications include current Illinois Registered Nurse license, minimum two years of surgical nursing experience, BLS and ACLS certifications, strong knowledge of surgical procedures and instrumentation, and excellent communication skills. Preferred qualifications include CNOR certification, experience with electronic health records, and bilingual abilities.
