Job Overview
OnPoint Medical Group is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Urgent Care team on a PRN basis in Aurora, Colorado. This role offers the opportunity to deliver immediate, compassionate care to patients with acute conditions, minor injuries, and illnesses in a dynamic, patient-centered urgent care setting. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure seamless operations and exceptional patient outcomes in a high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and treat patients presenting with urgent medical needs, including respiratory infections, sprains, lacerations, and chronic condition exacerbations. Perform comprehensive physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, labs, and EKGs, and develop evidence-based treatment plans. Prescribe medications, administer injections, perform minor procedures like suturing and abscess drainage, and provide patient education on follow-up care and preventive measures. Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinic protocols. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for referrals, admissions, or specialist consultations when necessary. Triage patients efficiently to prioritize care based on acuity and maintain clinic flow during peak hours.
Required Qualifications
Active, unrestricted Colorado license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. National certification from NCCPA or AANP/ANCC. Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience, preferably in urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care. Current DEA registration and BLS/ACLS certification; PALS preferred. Master's degree from an accredited PA or NP program.
Skills
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills with proficiency in managing common urgent care presentations. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to build rapport with diverse patient populations. Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure settings with quick decision-making. Proficiency in EHR systems like Epic or Athenahealth. Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement.
