Job Overview American Family Care (AFC) is a leading provider of urgent care services, offering accessible, high-quality healthcare to communities across the nation. We are currently seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Boulder, CO clinic on a full-time basis. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive medical care to patients of all ages presenting with urgent, non-emergency conditions, ensuring prompt diagnosis, treatment, and patient satisfaction in a dynamic, patient-centered environment. Key Responsibilities As an Urgent Care NP or PA, you will conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests such as labs, imaging, and EKGs. You will diagnose and treat a wide range of acute conditions, from respiratory infections and minor injuries to skin conditions and chronic disease exacerbations, prescribing medications and developing individualized treatment plans. Responsibilities include performing minor procedures like suturing, wound care, splinting, and incision and drainage, as well as managing patient flow to minimize wait times. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to coordinate care, provide patient education on follow-up instructions, preventive health, and lifestyle modifications, and maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with regulations. Participation in quality improvement initiatives, on-call rotations if needed, and adherence to infection control protocols are essential. Required Qualifications Candidates must hold a Master's degree or higher in Nursing (for NPs) or Physician Assistant Studies, with current national certification (e.g., ANCC, AANP for NPs; NCCPA for PAs) and an active, unrestricted Colorado state license. A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in urgent care, primary care, or emergency medicine, is required. DEA registration and BLS certification (ACLS preferred) are mandatory. Strong knowledge of acute care protocols, pharmacology, and evidence-based practice is essential. Skills The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional clinical judgment, rapid decision-making under pressure, and proficiency in EHR systems like Epic or Athenahealth. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are crucial for building rapport with diverse patients, explaining complex medical information clearly, and working effectively in a team. Additional skills include time management to handle high patient volumes, empathy for patient-centered care, and adaptability to varying shift demands.
