Job Overview: Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Critical Care Pediatrics and Cardiac Care Unit. This full-time position offers the opportunity to deliver advanced, specialized care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in a state-of-the-art pediatric facility renowned for excellence in pediatric critical care. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and manage acute and chronic conditions in the pediatric critical care and cardiac units. Perform diagnostic procedures, interpret tests such as EKGs, echocardiograms, and labs, prescribe medications, and initiate life-saving interventions. Monitor patient progress, adjust treatments, coordinate with intensivists, cardiologists, surgeons, and nursing staff, and provide family-centered education and support. Participate in rounds, code responses, ventilator management, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes. Required Qualifications: Master's degree or higher from an accredited NP or PA program with national certification (e.g., ANCC, PNCB, or NCCPA). Active Nebraska APRN or PA license, DEA registration, and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications. Minimum of 2 years of pediatric critical care or cardiac experience preferred; new grads with strong pediatric rotations considered. Nebraska residency or willingness to relocate required. Skills: Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic skills in pediatric critical care; proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, and cardiac pharmacology. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for patient/family interactions and team collaboration. Critical thinking, rapid decision-making under pressure, and familiarity with EHR systems like Epic. Commitment to evidence-based practice, empathy, and cultural competence in diverse pediatric populations.
