TRAILD, a dynamic startup revolutionizing the adventure and outdoor experience industry, is seeking a Founding Content Marketing Lead to join our core team in Illinois. As a foundational hire, you will build and execute our content marketing strategy from the ground up, targeting key markets in Australia, US, Canada, and New Zealand. Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive content marketing strategy aligned with TRAILD's mission to inspire outdoor adventures. Create high-quality, engaging content including blog posts, social media campaigns, videos, newsletters, and SEO-optimized articles to attract and retain our target audience. Lead content production, collaborating with designers, videographers, and influencers to produce multimedia assets that resonate across digital channels. Analyze content performance using tools like Google Analytics, Ahrefs, and social listening platforms to optimize campaigns and report on KPIs such as traffic, conversions, and engagement rates. Manage the content calendar, ensuring consistent publishing schedules and alignment with product launches, seasonal campaigns, and market trends. Build partnerships with outdoor influencers, bloggers, and media outlets in AUS/US/CAN/NZ to amplify reach. Oversee voice, tone, and brand guidelines to maintain a cohesive narrative that positions TRAILD as the go-to platform for trail enthusiasts.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in content marketing, preferably in startups, tech, or lifestyle brands. Proven track record of driving measurable results through content-led growth, with experience targeting international audiences. Strong writing and editing skills with a portfolio showcasing diverse content formats.
Skills
Expertise in SEO, content management systems (e.g., WordPress, HubSpot), and analytics tools. Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube) and paid promotion strategies. Creative storytelling ability with a passion for outdoor activities, travel, and adventure sports. Excellent project management skills, with experience using tools like Asana, Trello, or Airtable. Data-driven mindset for A/B testing and performance optimization. Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Klaviyo) and emerging trends like AI content tools.
