Full Description
Job Overview: Select Medical, a leader in post-acute care, is seeking PRN Physician Assistants (PA) or Nurse Practitioners (NP) to join our team at our facility in Amarillo, Texas. In this per diem role, you will deliver exceptional medical care to patients in a critical care or rehabilitation environment, working flexible shifts as needed to support our multidisciplinary team. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patient outcomes while enjoying the flexibility of PRN scheduling.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, diagnose acute and chronic conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans. Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as labs, imaging, and EKGs; prescribe medications and therapies; and perform procedures including wound care, suturing, and joint injections. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care, monitor patient progress, and adjust plans as necessary. Document all encounters thoroughly in electronic health records (EHR), ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Provide patient education on disease management, lifestyle modifications, and follow-up care to promote recovery and prevent readmissions.
Required Qualifications: Active, unrestricted Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the state of Texas. Master's degree from an accredited PA or NP program. National certification (NCCPA for PAs or ANCC/AANP for NPs). Current DEA registration and BLS/ACLS certification; additional certifications like ATLS or PALS preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in internal medicine, emergency medicine, critical care, or rehabilitation settings. Valid Texas driver's license and ability to pass background checks.
Skills: Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills. Proficiency in EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for patient and team interactions. Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-acuity environments with sound decision-making under pressure. Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centered care. Basic procedural competencies and familiarity with telehealth platforms a plus.

Benefits: As a PRN team member, enjoy competitive hourly pay rates, flexible scheduling to fit your lifestyle, and access to our clinician wellness programs. Opportunities to transition to full-time roles with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and professional development support.
