Job Overview Recology, a leader in sustainable waste management and recycling services, is seeking a dedicated Customer Service Specialist 1 to join our team in Washington state. In this full-time role, you will be the first point of contact for customers, providing top-tier support to enhance their experience with our environmentally responsible services. Key Responsibilities You will handle a high volume of inbound customer inquiries via phone, email, and online chat, addressing questions about billing, service schedules, recycling guidelines, and account management. Resolve complaints efficiently by troubleshooting issues, coordinating with operations teams, and following up to ensure complete resolution. Accurately document all interactions in our CRM system to maintain detailed records and support data-driven improvements. Educate customers on Recology's sustainable practices, promoting recycling programs and waste reduction initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to escalate complex matters and contribute to process enhancements that boost service quality. Perform data entry, generate reports, and monitor service metrics to identify trends and opportunities for better customer experiences. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate's degree in business, communications, or a related field preferred. At least one year of experience in customer service, call center, or retail support roles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word. Familiarity with CRM software such as Salesforce or similar platforms is a plus. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass a background check. Skills Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused mindset. Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to remain calm under pressure. Excellent active listening and empathy to build rapport with diverse customers. Multitasking prowess in a dynamic, high-call-volume setting.
