This critical role supports the financial health of our practice by managing cash posting, patient accounts receivable, and collections processes, ensuring timely payments and compliance with healthcare billing standards. Key Responsibilities Accurately post payments from insurance companies, patients, and third-party payers to patient accounts using practice management software. Review and resolve billing discrepancies, denials, and underpayments through detailed account analysis and appeals. Contact patients via phone, email, or mail to collect outstanding balances, negotiating payment plans as needed while maintaining professionalism and HIPAA compliance. Prepare and submit claims to insurance providers, track aging reports, and follow up on unpaid claims to minimize days in accounts receivable. Reconcile daily deposits, run financial reports, and collaborate with clinical staff to obtain necessary documentation for billing. Assist in month-end closing processes and maintain accurate records of all transactions. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in medical billing, healthcare administration, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years experience in medical billing, cash posting, or patient collections within a physician practice or hospital setting. Certification such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, HCPCS, and medical terminology. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systems like Epic, Cerner, or Kareo. Skills Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage high-volume transactions accurately. Excellent communication and customer service abilities for patient interactions and team collaboration. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for reporting and data analysis. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills for resolving complex billing issues and analytical mindset for identifying trends in collections performance.
