Job Description
Join Resurrection Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in the Stepdown Unit, delivering specialized care to patients transitioning from critical care settings in Chicago, IL.
Full Description
Resurrection Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Stepdown Unit in Chicago, Illinois. This full-time position offers an opportunity to provide high-quality nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring as they transition from intensive care to general medical-surgical units. The Stepdown Unit serves as a critical bridge in patient recovery, managing individuals with complex medical conditions who need specialized attention beyond standard floor care but do not require intensive care unit-level intervention.
As a Stepdown RN, you will be responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring, medication administration, wound care management, and comprehensive patient assessments. You will collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Your duties include monitoring vital signs, recognizing changes in patient conditions, responding to emergencies, and educating patients and families about treatment plans and discharge instructions. Documentation of all care activities in electronic health records and maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards are essential components of this role.
Candidates must possess an active Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois and hold current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred, along with previous experience in telemetry, progressive care, or critical care settings. Strong clinical assessment skills, proficiency in interpreting cardiac rhythms, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are required. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and time management abilities are essential for success in this position.

Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and supported by a collaborative team of healthcare professionals dedicated to clinical excellence.
