Petco is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Salesperson to join our retail team in Grand Island, Nebraska. This role is essential in creating a welcoming environment for pet parents while helping them find the right products and solutions for their beloved animals. As a Salesperson, you will be the face of the store, engaging with customers, sharing product knowledge, and ensuring a positive shopping experience that drives both satisfaction and sales performance.
In this position, you will greet customers warmly, assess their needs, and provide personalized recommendations on pet food, supplies, toys, and grooming services. You will maintain store appearance by restocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring products are priced accurately. Processing transactions at the register, handling returns, and answering product or service-related questions will also be key parts of your daily responsibilities. You will actively promote loyalty programs, seasonal promotions, and in-store events to increase customer engagement and repeat visits. Collaboration with team members to meet store sales goals and maintain inventory accuracy is expected, along with a commitment to following all safety and operational procedures.
To succeed in this role, candidates should have prior retail or customer service experience, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for pets and animal welfare. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and availability to work weekends and holidays is essential. Basic math skills for handling cash and transactions, along with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, are necessary. Previous experience in a pet-related retail environment is a plus but not mandatory.
