Job Overview
OptiMindHealth, a leader in virtual mental health services, is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our innovative team. This full-time remote position supports patients in Chula Vista, CA, and surrounding areas, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while delivering high-quality psychiatric care through telehealth platforms. Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations via video consultations to assess patient mental health status, including mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, and substance use issues. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, prescribing medications such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anxiolytics while monitoring efficacy and side effects. Provide ongoing psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including therapists, primary care providers, and social workers. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA and state regulations, participate in case conferences, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Stay current with psychiatric research and guidelines to ensure best practices in patient care.
Required Qualifications
Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatry and board certification as PMHNP-BC. Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in California, plus DEA registration and furnishing number for controlled substances. Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in psychiatric care, with proficiency in telehealth delivery. Current BLS certification and ability to pass background checks.
Skills
Excellent diagnostic and clinical judgment skills, strong interpersonal and communication abilities for building rapport with patients across diverse backgrounds. Proficiency in EHR systems like Epic or Cerner, telehealth technologies such as Doxy.me, and pharmacological knowledge. Cultural competence, empathy, crisis management, and problem-solving under pressure. Familiarity with evidence-based therapies including CBT and motivational interviewing.
