Job Overview DaVita, a leader in kidney care, is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Acute Dialysis position in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. This full-time role involves delivering high-quality, specialized dialysis treatments to patients in acute care settings such as hospitals and ICUs, ensuring optimal patient outcomes during critical renal therapy. Key Responsibilities As an Acute Dialysis RN, you will perform hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis procedures on acutely ill patients, monitoring vital signs, fluid balance, and electrolyte levels closely. You will assess patient conditions pre- and post-treatment, administer medications, and respond to emergencies swiftly. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nephrologists, and technicians is essential to develop and implement individualized care plans. Responsibilities also include patient and family education on dialysis processes, infection control, and maintaining accurate documentation in electronic health records. You will troubleshoot dialysis equipment issues and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards from CMS, ESRD, and hospital protocols. Required Qualifications Candidates must hold a current Registered Nurse license in Illinois with at least one year of dialysis or critical care nursing experience preferred. A valid CPR certification is required, along with ACLS for acute settings. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN preferred) from an accredited program is necessary. Excellent clinical judgment and the ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments are crucial. Skills Strong technical proficiency in dialysis machines like Fresenius and Baxter systems, along with expertise in vascular access management (catheters, fistulas, grafts), is vital. Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and team coordination, proficiency in EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner, and a commitment to evidence-based practice.
