Job Overview Recology, a leader in sustainable waste management and recycling services, is seeking a dedicated Customer Service Representative 1 to join our team in California. In this full-time position, you will serve as the first point of contact for customers, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and efficiency while supporting our mission to create a cleaner, greener future. Key Responsibilities You will respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and online portals, providing accurate information about billing, service schedules, pick-up issues, and recycling guidelines. Resolving complaints and service disruptions promptly is essential, including coordinating with operations teams for escalations and follow-ups. Maintaining accurate customer records in our CRM system, processing service requests, and generating reports on call volumes and resolution times will be daily tasks. Additionally, you will educate customers on sustainable practices, promote Recology's eco-friendly programs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve service delivery. Required Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with at least one year of customer service experience, preferably in utilities, waste management, or a call center environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM software like Salesforce is necessary. California residency or ability to work in CA is mandatory, and you must have strong English communication skills, both verbal and written. Skills Exceptional active listening and empathy to handle diverse customer needs, problem-solving abilities to resolve issues efficiently, and time management to juggle multiple calls and tasks. Technical aptitude for navigating customer databases and learning proprietary software, plus interpersonal skills for building rapport and de-escalating tense situations. Knowledge of environmental services or basic Spanish is a plus.
