Job Description
CivicPlus seeks a Sales Development Representative in Kansas to generate leads and qualify prospects for government software solutions. Join our team to drive sales growth in the public sector market.
Full Description
Job Overview
CivicPlus, a leading provider of software solutions for local governments, is seeking a motivated Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our dynamic sales team in Kansas. In this full-time role, you will play a pivotal part in identifying and nurturing leads, qualifying opportunities, and supporting the sales pipeline for our innovative products that help municipalities streamline operations, enhance citizen engagement, and improve public services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to launch or advance your career in B2G (business-to-government) sales within a supportive, growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
As an SDR, you will prospect new business opportunities through outbound calls, emails, and LinkedIn outreach targeting local government officials such as city managers, clerks, and department heads. You will qualify inbound leads by conducting discovery calls to understand needs, pain points, and budgets, then nurture them through the sales funnel using CRM tools like Salesforce. Collaborating closely with Account Executives, you will schedule qualified meetings and demos, track activities in our sales platform, and contribute to campaign performance analysis to refine strategies. Staying informed on government trends, RFPs, and CivicPlus offerings will be essential to effectively communicate value propositions and overcome objections.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent experience in sales or customer service is acceptable. You must have at least 1-2 years of experience in sales development, lead generation, or inside sales, ideally in SaaS, tech, or public sector environments. Proven ability to hit quotas through persistent outreach and strong phone presence is required, along with familiarity with CRM systems and sales tools.
Skills
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are crucial, paired with active listening and consultative selling techniques. You should be proficient in Microsoft Office, Zoom, and sales enablement software, with strong organizational skills to manage high-volume pipelines. Resilience, adaptability, and a results-driven mindset will help you thrive in a fast-paced setting, while analytical skills enable data-informed decisions. Knowledge of government procurement processes or civic tech is a plus.
