Job Overview
Talkiatry is revolutionizing mental health care by connecting patients with top-tier Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) through a fully remote, telepsychiatry platform. We are seeking a board-certified PMHNP licensed in California to join our team on a full-time basis, delivering compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to adults via secure video consultations from the comfort of your home or preferred location. This role offers the flexibility of remote work while contributing to our mission of making quality mental health treatment accessible to all Californians, without the constraints of traditional office settings.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including initial assessments, diagnostic interviews, and mental status examinations for a diverse patient population. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans featuring medication management, psychotherapy recommendations, and crisis intervention strategies tailored to patient needs. Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, adjusting dosages based on patient response, side effects, and lab results while adhering to state regulations and best practices. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, primary care providers, and care coordinators, to ensure holistic patient care and seamless care transitions. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in our electronic health record (EHR) system, complying with HIPAA and billing requirements for insurance reimbursement. Participate in case consultations, peer reviews, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction. Stay current with psychiatric guidelines, research, and telehealth advancements through ongoing education.
Required Qualifications
Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program with PMHNP specialization. Active, unrestricted PMHNP licensure in California and national certification (PMHNP-BC) from ANCC or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in psychiatric care, with proficiency in telepsychiatry preferred. DEA registration for controlled substances and familiarity with California prescribing laws. Excellent clinical judgment, cultural competence, and ability to manage high-acuity cases remotely.
Skills
Strong diagnostic skills for DSM-5 disorders including anxiety, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, and substance use. Proficiency in virtual platforms like Zoom or Doxy.me, EHR systems such as SimplePractice or Valant, and telehealth best practices. Exceptional communication and empathy to build rapport with patients across diverse backgrounds. Analytical mindset for treatment planning, risk assessment, and outcome measurement. Tech-savviness with reliable high-speed internet, webcam, and quiet workspace setup.
