Key Responsibilities
Administer general, regional, and local anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures, tailoring plans to individual needs and risk factors. Conduct thorough pre-anesthetic assessments, including medical history reviews, physical exams, and diagnostic test interpretations to develop comprehensive anesthesia care plans. Monitor patients' vital signs and physiological status throughout procedures, responding promptly to any changes with advanced interventions. Manage post-anesthesia recovery, providing pain management, assessing for complications, and ensuring smooth transitions to other care units. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to optimize patient care, participate in case conferences, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records, adhere to infection control protocols, and comply with all regulatory standards including those from the Joint Commission and state licensing boards.
Required Qualifications
Must hold current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Active, unrestricted Illinois Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license and DEA registration required. Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program with a minimum of a master's degree; doctoral degree preferred. At least 1-2 years of recent clinical experience as a CRNA in a hospital or surgical center setting. Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications. Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and health assessments.
