Job Overview: Join Mill Creek Lumber & Supply Company as a Builder Outside Sales Carpet Representative in Wichita, KS. This role focuses on driving sales of premium carpet products to builders, contractors, and construction firms in the local market. As a key member of our sales team, you will leverage your industry knowledge and relationship-building skills to expand our customer base, exceed sales goals, and contribute to the company's growth in the building materials sector. Key Responsibilities: Prospect and develop new business relationships with home builders, general contractors, remodelers, and developers specializing in residential and commercial projects. Present and demonstrate carpet product lines, including various styles, fibers, and custom options, to meet customer specifications and budgets. Conduct site visits, attend job site meetings, and provide on-site support to ensure seamless product delivery and installation coordination. Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation and quoting to closing deals, order processing, and follow-up service. Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and customer needs to recommend tailored solutions that enhance project outcomes. Maintain accurate CRM records, prepare sales reports, and collaborate with internal teams such as warehouse, design, and logistics to deliver exceptional customer experiences. Achieve and surpass monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets while upholding company standards for quality and professionalism. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in business, sales, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of outside sales experience in building materials, flooring, carpet, or construction industry. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas in a B2B environment. Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for field travel within Wichita and surrounding areas. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software such as Salesforce or similar. Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build lasting client relationships. Strong negotiation and closing abilities with a customer-centric approach. In-depth knowledge of carpet products, installation techniques, and industry standards. Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills to handle a dynamic field schedule. Analytical mindset for sales forecasting and market analysis. Ability to lift samples and materials up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions during site visits.
