Lead automation initiatives for Oracle's Sovereign Cloud as a Principal Software Development Engineer, driving scalable infrastructure solutions and ensuring compliance with regional data sovereignty requirements.

Full Description

Oracle is seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer to join our Automation for Sovereign Cloud team. In this senior role, you will design and implement automation frameworks that power Oracle's cloud infrastructure while ensuring compliance with strict data residency and sovereignty regulations across global markets. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technologies and influence the architecture of mission-critical systems serving enterprise customers worldwide. As a key technical leader, you will architect robust automation solutions that streamline deployment, monitoring, and management of cloud services across multiple geographic regions. Your responsibilities include developing infrastructure-as-code frameworks, creating CI/CD pipelines, and building self-healing systems that maintain operational excellence while adhering to sovereignty requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including security, compliance, and product engineering to deliver solutions that meet both technical and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in cloud infrastructure automation, distributed systems design, and a deep understanding of data sovereignty regulations. You will mentor junior engineers, establish best practices for automation development, and contribute to strategic technical decisions that shape Oracle's sovereign cloud offerings. This role requires strong analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex technical and regulatory landscapes. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, 8+ years of software development experience, and proven expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in programming languages including Python, Java, or Go, along with experience in infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Kubernetes. Knowledge of compliance frameworks including GDPR, data residency requirements, and security best practices is essential for success in this position. Oracle offers competitive compensation packages, comprehensive health and wellness benefits, flexible work arrangements, and substantial professional development opportunities. Employees have access to ongoing training programs, certification support, and clear career progression paths within the organization. The company fosters an inclusive workplace culture that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning, providing team members with the resources needed to advance their careers while making meaningful contributions to transformative cloud technologies. This role presents significant growth potential for engineers interested in advancing into technical leadership positions or specializing further in cloud sovereignty and compliance. You will have opportunities to influence product direction, present at industry conferences, and contribute to open-source projects while building expertise in one of the fastest-growing segments of the cloud computing market.
