U-Haul is seeking a dedicated Customer Service Representative to join our team in Belmont, California. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking moving trucks, trailers, and storage solutions, ensuring every interaction reflects our commitment to quality and reliability. You will handle inquiries, process reservations, resolve issues, and guide customers through available options to meet their transportation and storage needs.
Key responsibilities include answering incoming calls and responding to customer emails, processing reservations and rental agreements accurately, explaining rental terms, rates, and insurance options clearly, handling payments and completing transactions, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of U-Haul products, services, and safety guidelines. You will also coordinate with local storage facilities, assist with equipment availability checks, document customer feedback, and escalate complex concerns to appropriate team members when necessary.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of customer service experience preferably in retail, call center, or hospitality environments, and strong verbal and written communication abilities. Candidates should demonstrate basic computer proficiency with reservation systems and office software, the ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays, and a professional, customer-focused attitude. Previous experience with moving equipment or automotive services is considered an asset.
Essential skills include active listening, problem-solving under pressure, attention to detail when handling transactions, and the ability to remain calm and empathetic when addressing customer concerns. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
